American Water owns or operates hundreds of water and wastewater treatment facilities across the U.S., utilizing innovative technologies that range from reverse osmosis desalination to submerged membrane bioreactors and UV treatment. We are always looking to create and implement solutions that will address the needs of future generations while making a difference today.  We embrace innovations that help us achieve our goals while making a difference for our customers, our communities, and our environment.

The company recently introduced the Innovation Development Process, an initiative that leverages American Water’s position and expertise as the nation's largest water and wastewater services provider to develop, test and produce new technologies for industry use. It combines American Water's research and development, technical expertise, and infrastructure assets with innovations from within the company and from business partners to create greater efficiencies in the areas of water reuse, desalination, wastewater operations and bio-energy.

We have adopted an open collaboration model to make it easier to work with companies developing innovative technologies, allowing them to benefit from our resources, experience and expertise.

• Energy Management at Water-Energy Nexus
