West Virginia American Water Celebrates National Infrastructure Week; Announces 2022 Planned Infrastructure Upgrades
Charleston, W.Va. (May 9, 2022) – As part of National Infrastructure Week, West Virginia American Water announced today the planned investment of approximately $80 million in capital upgrades to its water and wastewater infrastructure and system operations in 2022.
“Investing in infrastructure creates jobs, stimulates the local and state economies and supports our team in continuing to deliver high-quality reliable water and wastewater services to nearly 560,000 West Virginians every day,” said Robert Burton, President of West Virginia American Water. “As the largest water utility in West Virginia, we’re pleased to trend higher than the national rate for water main replacements and investments in our system.”
To show its continued commitment to customer and stakeholder communication and transparency, West Virginia American Water regularly updates its infrastructure upgrade map on the company’s website. This interactive map features water main upgrades, total dollars invested and the length of pipe being installed each year. By clicking on individual projects, users can see specific project details, including project dates and potential traffic impacts. Projects shown on the map are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
“Our infrastructure upgrade map is a great tool for customers who see water utility construction going on in their community and want to learn more about the project,” said Mike Raymo, director of Engineering at West Virginia American Water. “We also encourage elected officials and community stakeholders in our service areas to view the map in the event that constituents have questions or want additional information about an ongoing project in their area.”
