American Water and Camden - Solving Our Water Challenges

Strengthening Partnerships

American Water is keeping our corporate headquarters in South Jersey and moving to a city we have proudly been a part of for more than 125 years. It’s where over 600 of our employees will continue the important work they do to provide clean, safe, reliable, and affordable water to customers in Camden and beyond. As the largest public water company in the nation, we are excited and proud to call One Water Street on The Camden Waterfront our home.

Driving Innovation

Camden will be the home of American Water and will become a world-class destination for water research and innovation where people will come from all around the globe to learn and be inspired. The development will attract future talent from local universities, the region, and across the country.

Inside Our New HQ

Our headquarters, built to LEED Platinum standards, reflects American Water’s commitment to the environment, energy efficiency and overall sustainability of our organization and the communities we serve in preserving and providing access to the world’s greatest natural resource.

Creating a World-Class Work Environment

American Water employees – including scientists, experts in technology and innovation, engineers and operations will be able to work together, under one roof, to solve the world’s biggest water challenges including repairing the country’s aging water and wastewater infrastructure and solving water source and quality issues – allowing us to collaborate and innovate to better serve our customers.

Enhancing Our Presence in Camden

While having our headquarters based in Camden is a new development, our company is not new to the city  – our roots run deep. For more than 125 years, American Water’s subsidiary, New Jersey American Water, has been a part of Camden, providing water service in Cramer Hill and maintaining the rest of Camden’s water & sewer system since 2016.

Since 2011, American Water has invested more than $4 million into Camden, supporting local nonprofits and community programs. Relocating our employees to the city allows us to enhance our support in Camden and continue growing our roots here by forming new partnerships and expanding existing ones with local organizations that are the helping quality of life in the City of Camden just like us.
