Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer
Jennifer Gambol is vice president and chief business development officer for American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this role, she has responsibility for business development, supporting both our regulated and market-based business growth efforts.
Ms. Gambol has a broad background in a variety of finance disciplines including financial planning & analysis, accounting, investor relations, tax, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting.
Most recently, Ms. Gambol served as treasurer, where she was responsible for leading the company’s long-term and short-term financing activities, corporate planning and investment analysis, and risk management. She joined American Water in 2015 as vice president and finance director for American Water Enterprises, the market-based products and services division of American Water.
Prior to American Water, Ms. Gambol was vice president of Finance and Investor Relations for J.G. Wentworth Co., where she helped develop the company’s strategic plan, implemented product line profitability metrics, reduced expenses and defined financial goals. Previously, she held several finance and accounting roles of increasing responsibility at E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. after beginning her career as an auditor with Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLC.
Ms. Gambol has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, and is a certified public accountant (inactive) in Pennsylvania. Vice President of Business Development, Chief Mergers and Acquisitions Counsel
Jordan Mersky is Vice President of Business Development and Chief Mergers and Acquisitions Counsel for American Water.He is responsible for developing new lines of business and seeking out, evaluating and negotiating opportunities for American Water to grow its existing businesses.
Mersky also leads American Water's business incubation team, which develops high-potential business opportunities within the company.Mersky led the team that conducted a pilot of the company’s geothermal solution, which provided efficient heating and cooling for William Buck Elementary in Valley Stream, N.Y. The program received the Innovative Star of Energy Efficiency Award by the Alliance to Save Energy.
Prior to this role, Mersky served as Deputy General Counsel for American Water’s Northeastern Division, which comprises New Jersey and New York.In this role, Mersky was responsible for providing strategic mergers and acquisitions counsel to the company.He led the team that closed American Water's sale of its Arizona and New Mexico subsidiaries, and was instrumental in the company’s agreement to sell its Ohio subsidiary to Aqua America in return for that company’s New York operations.
Prior to joining American Water, Mersky was vice president and general counsel for UM Holdings Ltd., a private investment firm. He began his career as an associate at Shearman & Sterling, serving as principal associate and focusing on the firm’s mergers and acquisitions activities in New York. Mersky was also a staff member for former Ohio Governor George V. Voinovich during his first term.
Mersky received his J.D. summa cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law. He has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago.He is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association.
