Indiana American Water Cuts Ribbon for $4-Million Water Infrastructure Project in New Albany, Ind.

(JEFFERSONVILLE, IND., -- NOVEMBER 8, 2019) – Indiana American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), today joined community leaders, dignitaries and project partners at a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate completion of a $4 million project that included construction of a 1-million-gallon elevated storage tank and connecting water mains along Coes Lane in New Albany, Ind.

“This investment will help us continue to meet the area’s water needs while enhancing system reliability during emergency situations and fire flows in New Albany,” said Indiana American Water President Matt Prine. “We are committed to our customers in southeast Indiana and to delivering high quality water service to the area.

“Over the last five years alone, we have invested more than $70 million in our Southern Indiana Operation, including $42 million to replace or relocate water mains and hydrants, more than $9.3 million to install new meters and service lines and more than $18.6 million for improvements to pumping, treatment, storage and operations facilities.

The project included construction of a new 1-million-gallon elevated storage tank in the 1600 block of Coes Lane. The bottom of the tank is composed of poured concrete while the top portion consists of fabricated steel. The project also included installing approximately 1,500 feet of large-diameter water mains along Coes Lane to connect the new tank to existing water mains in the area.
