LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 25, 2019) – Kentucky American Water has awarded grants
totaling $7,500 to 15 Kentucky fire departments in support of their year-round efforts to protect
the communities they serve. The company established the grant program in 2011 to support
uniformed professional and volunteer fire departments serving communities in Kentucky
American Water’s service territory.
“Kentucky American Water is proud to support the efforts of area fire departments year-round
through our dedication to providing quality, reliable water service and by inspecting and
maintaining nearly 9,000 fire hydrants,” said David Farrar, vice president of operations. “Our

Franklin County Fire Department Wireless radio headsets
Glencoe Fire Department Fire attack hose project
Harrison County Fire Protection District Public safety vests
Hutchinson Station Volunteer Fire Department Stop-the-bleed kits
Jonesville Fire Department Personal safety equipment project
Lexington-Fayette County Fire Department Fire resistant hoods
Millersburg Fire and Rescue Department Drop tank
Monterey Volunteer Fire Department Helmet face shields
North Middletown Fire Department Battery-powered chain saws
Owen County Fire Department Flashlight replacement
Owenton Fire Department Fire prevention outreach program
Pongo Volunteer Fire Department Cutting tools
Woodford County Fire Protection District Ball intake valve
Since launching the program in 2011, Kentucky American Water has donated more than $72,000 to help fire departments in Kentucky.
