New York American Water is replacing the existing 500,000-gallon Glen Head Tank with a new 500,000-gallon water storage tank at the same location. The existing tank, which was built in the 1930s, does not meet modern safety standards and has to be replaced.
The Glen Head Tank, which provides water storage capacity for our customers in Glen Head, Sea Cliff, Roslyn Harbor, Old Brookville and Glenwood Landing, will be taken offline on September 16, 2019 to facilitate demolition and replacement of the tank.
Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Work outside these hours or on weekends will only take place if needed to maintain the project schedule. New York American Water anticipates bringing the new tank online in summer 2020. We encourage our customers to conserve water during construction.
