New York American Water Issues Mandatory Water Restrictions for Customers in Beaver Dam Lake

Merrick, N.Y. (June 13, 2018) – New York American Water has issued mandatory water restrictions for customers is its Beaver Dam Lake service area in New Windsor, N.Y., due to operational issues that reduced water production rates. Outdoor water use such as watering lawns and washing cars is prohibited until further notice. Customers should also conserve water use inside their homes. It is important to note that this is only a supply issue, and at no time has water quality been impacted or compromised.

The New York American Water team is working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Customers are encouraged to check the New York American Water website (www.newyorkamwater.com) and Facebook page (@nyamwater) for information updates. New York American Water will notify customers once the restrictions have been lifted.

While mandatory water restrictions are in place, New York American Water asks its customers to limit their water usage as follows:

  • No vehicle washing, no driveway washing.

  • No water use for irrigation, lawn watering, or other outdoor use unless via a handheld watering can.

  • No refilling of fountains or decorative ponds.

  • No filling or topping off of pools.
