NEW MCKEESPORT CUSTOMER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When did Pennsylvania American Water begin providing sewer service to former customers of the Municipal Authority of the City of McKeesport (MACM)?

On December 18, 2017, Pennsylvania American Water finalized the purchase of the wastewater system from the MACM. We are confident that the acquisition will provide the residents of the City of McKeesport, Duquesne, Dravosburg and Port Vue with quality wastewater service at a fair and reasonable rate for many years to come.

WHAT TYPE OF REGULATORY APPROVAL WAS REQUIRED FOR THE ACQUISITION?

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved the purchase on October 26, 2017. In addition, Pennsylvania American Water and MACM officials worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency to secure all the necessary regulatory approvals.

WHAT CHANGES WILL OCCUR WITH RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER BILLING?

Now that the transaction has closed, Pennsylvania American Water is providing wastewater service and billing to all customers previously served by MACM. Your final bill from MACM should have arrived in mid-December, and your first bill from Pennsylvania American Water will be due in mid-January of 2018. (Dravosburg customers who receive water service from Pennsylvania American Water will receive one combined monthly bill for both water and wastewater service.)

WILL MY WASTEWATER RATES CHANGE?

Under the purchase agreement approved by the PUC, there will be no change to your wastewater rates resulting from the change in ownership.

WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

As a customer of Pennsylvania American Water, you have the option to pay your wastewater bill by mail, online, by phone or in person at one of our authorized payment locations, which can be found on our website at pennsylvaniaamwater.com. Pennsylvania
American Water will also accept customer payments at the current MACM office at 2800 Walnut Street in McKeesport, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pennsylvania American Water also offers its web self-service portal “My Account Online,” where customers can view and pay their bill online, enroll in our Auto Pay and Paperless Billing programs and more.

WHERE DO CUSTOMERS CALL WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT BILLING, SERVICE, OR FOR AN EMERGENCY?

Any questions related to bills issued by MACM after the transaction should continue to be directed to MACM at 412-673-0850.

For questions related to Pennsylvania American Water bills and service, contact our customer service center at 800-565-7292. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For emergencies, we’re available 24/7 at the same number.

I AM ENROLLED IN YOUR AUTO PAY PROGRAM FOR DRINKING WATER. DO I HAVE TO MAKE ANY CHANGES TO AUTO PAY MY SEWER BILL?

If you receive water service from Pennsylvania American Water (Dravosburg customers) and are enrolled in our Auto Pay Program, we need your written authorization to start automatically withdrawing your combined water and wastewater payment from your bank account. (At this time, we are authorized to deduct only your water bill from your account.) It’s easy to stay enrolled in the Auto Pay Program and avoid being deactivated. Please fill out the authorization form on our web self-service portal.
