Pennsylvania American Water plans to paint its water filtration unit at the Silver Spring Treatment Plant in Cumberland County. The 463,000-gallon unit was constructed and last painted in 1990. The $1.2 million project represents a critical investment for the company in support of our commitment to provide customers with affordable, high-quality, reliable water.

The project will be completed by qualified rehabilitation contractors, Minoan, Inc., Roberts Filter and Calgon Carbon, and involves steel repairs and improvements, sand blasting and applying paint on the interior and exterior of the unit, and replacement of the filter media.

Crews begin the work in May, and the project is expected to be completed by November, weather permitting. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Some work may be required on Sundays to maintain the schedule.

Regard any noise related to the sandblasting of the tank, our contractor will be taking measures to minimize noise levels. However, there will be some unavoidable noise associated with this project. We apologize for any inconvenience that the construction might cause.
