Project replaced outdated water main dating back to early 1950s

BANGOR, Pa. (July 5, 2017) – Pennsylvania American Water today reported the completion of upgrades to approximately 700 feet of water main along North 5th Street to improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting. The cost of the system improvements, which replaced water main dating back to the 1950s, was more than $155,000.

The project, which began in late May, replaced nearly 700 feet of existing six-inch water main with new eight-inch ductile iron pipe along North 5th Street, between Market Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The company expects to complete transfer of all customer services, final restoration, and paving in the fall of 2017.
