PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER WELCOMES COMMUNITY TO OPEN HOUSE AT BUTLER COUNTY TREATMENT PLANT

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Pennsylvania American Water announced today that the company will be hosting a community open house at the Butler Drinking Water Treatment Plant on Saturday, Nov 10, from 9 a.m. to noon.

“Our team delivers approximately 6 million gallons of award-winning drinking water each day to our Butler County customers,” said Pennsylvania American Water Production Supervisor Kevin Mortimer. “This open house will provide a unique opportunity for visitors to learn more about their drinking water and meet the people who make it happen 24/7.”

Located at 203 Oneida Valley Road in Summit Township, the treatment facility was constructed in 1971 and serves approximately 18,000, customers in the City of Butler, East Butler, Butler, Center, Connoquenessing, Forward, Franklin, Penn and Summit Townships.

The free all-ages tour will occur primarily outdoors with the exception of the indoor treatment facilities and include several flights of stairs and walking over grated catwalks. Attendees should wear sturdy, closed-toed footwear and be comfortable standing, walking and occasionally climbing stairs for approximately 45 minutes.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by November 9, 2018, on the company’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pennsylvaniaamwater) under the events tab for the Butler Water Treatment Plant open house. For security reasons, attendees should provide valid photo identification to participate. Visitors should use the Henricks Road entrance, where parking will be available. Vehicles are not permitted to enter and exit the main gate during the event.
