PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN WATER ANNOUNCES WATER AND SEWER LINE RELOCATION PROJECT IN DUNMORE

Project scheduled ahead of bridge replacement along Jefferson Avenue

SCRANTON, Pa. (December 17, 2018) – Pennsylvania American Water today announced the start of construction to  relocate  water and sewer main in  Dunmore in advance of  the scheduled Jefferson Avenue bridge project. The company will replace approximately 100 feet of 10-inch water main, and more than 300 feet of 30-inch sewer main.  The cost of the system improvement, which replaces pipe dating back to the early 1900s, is approximately $350,000.

Starting the week of December 17, Pennsylvania American Water’s contractors will be working along Jefferson Avenue between Electric and Grandview Streets.  Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The area of the bridge will be closed during construction, and drivers are urged to find an alternate route.  Weather permitting, construction is expected to last through the end of January.

During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences.
