Pennsylvania American Water Announces Butler County Water System Upgrades

Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace approximately 2 miles of aging water main in its Butler County service area to improve service reliability and fire protection for residents. The combined cost of these system improvements is approximately $1.5 million.

“These upgrades will replace aging water mains that in some cases date back to the early 1920s in our Butler County system,” said Pennsylvania American Water Senior Manager of Operations Toni Colavecchia. “This investment will help to ensure reliable water service and fire protection for our customers for years to come.”

The company’s Butler County system provides water service to more than 19,000 customers. The pipeline upgrades began May 14, 2019, with the replacement of aging water mains along West Main Street in Saxonburg Borough. Over the next several months, the company plans to replace aging water main in the following areas of Butler County:

Butler Township

City of Butler

Saxonburg Borough

Summit Township

·    Cupps Road

·   Wood Street

·  East Water Street

·   Phil Mar and Willow Drives

·    Plateau Street

·     Reo Street

·   Pittsburgh Street

 

·    Cedar Road

 

·   West Main Street

 

Pennsylvania American Water will notify customers prior to the start of construction in their respective neighborhoods. Customers will be notified prior to any planned interruptions of service. During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
