BROWNSVILLE, Pa. – Pennsylvania American Water announced today that customers are invited to tour its Brownsville Water Treatment Plant during a community open house on Wednesday, June 12, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Visitors will learn where their drinking water comes from and how the water is treated and tested. They also will have the opportunity to talk with the company’s local management team and water quality professionals.
“Our Brownsville Water Treatment Plant has been recognized by state and federal regulators for producing water that meets, or exceeds standards,” said Pennsylvania American Water Operations Superintendent Jake Gentile. “This open house will provide our Brownsville customers with a unique opportunity to learn more about their drinking water and meet the people who make it happen 24/7.”
The free tours are for all ages and will include several flights of stairs as well as walking over grated catwalks, so members of the public who plan to attend should wear sturdy, closed-toed footwear and be comfortable standing, walking and occasionally climbing stairs for approximately 45 minutes.
Pennsylvania American Water encourages interested visitors to RSVP by June 10, on the Pennsylvania American Water Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pennsylvaniaamwater) under the events tab for the Brownsville Water Treatment Plant open house. Adult attendees must provide valid photo identification to enter the treatment plant property.
