Pennsylvania American Water Announces Philipsburg Area Water System Upgrades

Philipsburg, Pa. (September 11, 2019) – Pennsylvania American Water announced today the start of construction to replace nearly 1 mile of aging water main in its Philipsburg service area to improve service reliability and fire protection for residents. The combined cost of these system improvements is approximately $1.4 million.

“These water main replacement projects support our promise to deliver clean, dependable drinking water to our customers,” said Jane Moore, senior supervisor of operations. “In addition, the installation of two new fire hydrants, along with the replacement of five aging hydrants, will enhance fire protection throughout the area.”

Pipeline upgrades are underway in Morris Township with the replacement of aging water mains along on Glastonbury and Powell Streets. In addition, work along Presqueisle, Front and Maple Streets in Philipsburg Boro is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 16.

During the next several weeks, the company plans to replace aging water mains in the following areas:

Philipsburg Boro

  • East Presqueisle Street
  • South Front Street
  • East Beaver Street
  • East Maple Street

Morris Township

  • Powell Street
  • Telcott Street
  • Glastonbury Street

Pennsylvania American Water will notify customers prior to the start of construction in their respective neighborhoods. Customers will be notified prior to any planned interruptions of service. During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
