
Pennsylvania American Water to Open Doors for Public Tours of McKeesport Wastewater Treatment Plant
MCKEESPORT, Pa. (May 17, 2025) – Pennsylvania American Water has extended an invitation to customers to tour its McKeesport Wastewater Treatment Plant on Saturday, May 17, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will learn more about a recent $18.5 million investment made at the wastewater system and what happens to water after it leaves their home and goes through the treatment process. Customers will also have the opportunity to talk with the Pennsylvania American Water’s local management team and wastewater treatment professionals and ask questions about the service they receive.
“Our McKeesport team treats approximately 13 million gallons of wastewater each day,” said Pennsylvania American Water Operations Superintendent Chuck Schultz. “This open house will provide our customers with a unique opportunity to learn more about the wastewater treatment process and meet the professionals who make it happen 24/7.”
Visitors of all ages will be offered guided outdoor tours at this rain-or-shine, no-cost event.
The open house also will feature:
- Touch-a-truck display
- Face painting
- Interactive watershed displays
- Refreshments
The plant is located at 100 Atlantic Ave, McKeesport, PA 15132. Those who plan to attend should wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear and long pants. Large bags and personal items should be left in secured vehicles. Attendees will be asked to sign in at the gate, and a parent or guardian must accompany and be responsible for children under 18 years of age.
