4/15-6/20 Hopewell Water Treatment Change

Virginia American Water has implemented a routine change in the water treatment process for customers in the Hopewell District, which includes the City of Hopewell, as well as the subdivisions of New Birchett Estates, Cedar Creek, Cedar Creek West, Strattford Woods and Mullberry Woods in Prince George County. Through June 20, Virginia American Water will temporarily change its disinfection treatment process from chloramine to free chlorine.

Because of this treatment process change, customers might notice a slightly stronger chlorine taste and odor in their drinking water. Customers who are especially sensitive to the taste and odor of chlorine should keep an open container of drinking water in their refrigerators. This will enable the chlorine to dissipate, reducing the chlorine taste. Location: Hopewell
