Boil Water Advisory lifted for customers in Pennsylvania American Water’s Mechanicsburg System

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Aug. 13, 2024) Pennsylvania American Water announced this morning that the boil water advisory for customers in its Mechanicsburg water system has been lifted. Customers were notified on Aug. 9, 2024 of a water main break that caused a loss of positive water pressure, resulting in the issuance of the boil water advisory. We are pleased to report that the issue has been resolved.

This notice applies to approximately 42,000 customers in Pennsylvania American Water’s Mechanicsburg system, including Camp Hill, Lemoyne, New Cumberland, Shiremanstown, West Fairview and Wormleysburg boroughs and East Pennsboro, Hampden, Lower Allen, Silver Spring townships and portions of Upper Allen Township in Cumberland County and portions of Fairview and Newberry townships in York County.

Acceptable test results were obtained from samples collected on Aug. 11, 2024, and Aug. 12, 2024, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has authorized lifting the advisory.
