American Water Names Deron E. Allen President of Indiana American Water and Michigan American Water

GREENWOOD, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Water has named Deron E. Allen president of Indiana American
Water and Michigan American Water effective Nov. 11. Allen is replacing
Alan DeBoy, who is taking on a new role with American Water as vice
president of Operations Excellence.
Allen, a native of Richmond, Ind., most recently served as the president
of Tennessee American Water, leading operations that provide reliable
water services to more than 374,000 people in Tennessee and northern
Georgia. In his new role, Allen will work to strengthen customer,
regulatory and local government relationships while driving operational
and financial results.

years of experience and a tremendous knowledge of the water utility

Prior to serving as president of Tennessee American Water, Allen was
vice president of Operations for Indiana American Water. He was
responsible for the daily operations of Indiana American Water,
including district operations, field customer service, water treatment,
and water quality/environmental functions.
Allen began his water utility career more than 29 years ago as a
temporary laborer in Richmond, Ind. He joined the company in 1985 as a
treatment plant operator and from there moved into various positions in
water treatment and distribution. He left the company in 1993 to work
for Crowder College's Environmental Resource Center in Neosho, Mo.,
working his way up to eventually lead the center's Environmental Health
and Safety Division. He returned to Indiana American Water in 2001.
Allen holds certifications in water and wastewater treatment, as well as
backflow prevention, in multiple states. He earned an associate degree
in applied science from Crowder College, as well as bachelor's and
master's degrees in geology from Indiana State University. He is active
in numerous professional, civic and community organizations, including
the American Water Works Association, Rotary International and the Boy
Scouts of America.
