Indiana American Water Proudly Recognizes Partnership with Urban League of Northwest Indiana Affiliate
American Water Charitable Foundation provides a combined total $260,000 to support workforce development initiatives for the National Urban League and Affiliate Movement
GARY, IND. – DECEMBER 3, 2024 – The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., and Indiana American Water, announced today that the Urban League of Northwest Indiana Affiliate has received a $20,000 commitment as part of a larger Foundation Corporate Strategic grant.
A representative from the Urban League of Northwest Indiana stated: “The Urban League of Northwest Indiana appreciates the generous contribution that will support our small business and entrepreneurship initiatives. We value the support provided by the American Water Charitable Foundation and our local team at Indiana American Water.”
Funding will enhance workforce development initiatives that help close the equality gap for African Americans and other historically underserved groups throughout the Northwest Indiana footprint.
“We are pleased that the American Water Charitable Foundation provided this grant to the Urban League of Northwest Indiana," said Justin Mount, Indiana American Water Northwest Operations Manager. "By providing this grant, we hope to contribute to the enhancement of social, educational, and economic opportunities and create a more equitable and prosperous future for our communities in Northwest Indiana.”
The Corporate Strategic grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation 2024 Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. Corporate Strategic grants support high-impact programs that align with American Water’s values of being a solutions provider, where we seek to influence positive change and help keep communities flowing, improving and thriving.
