Kentucky American Water Now Accepting Applications for 2012 American Water Environmental Grant Program

Kentucky American Water has announced that it is now accepting
applications for American Water’s 2012 Environmental Grant
Program awards. Established in 2005 by American Water (NYSE:AWK) –
parent company of Kentucky American Water – the American Water
Environmental Grant Program offers funds for innovative, community-based
environmental projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds,
surface water and/or groundwater supplies through partnerships.
“We are pleased to have offered this grant program in Kentucky since
2006,” said Cheryl Norton, president of Kentucky American Water. “Since
that time, we have provided $95,000 in grant funds to Kentucky
organizations for their efforts to protect the environment and, in
particular, to protect our waterways, or educate others on how to do the
same.”
To qualify for grant funds, proposed projects must:

Address a source water or watershed protection need in the community
-
Be completed between May 1, 2012 and November 30, 2012

Be a new or innovative program for the community, or serve as a
significant expansion to an
existing program
-
Be carried out by a formal or informal partnership between two or more
organizations
-
Provide evidence of sustainability (continued existence after the
Kentucky American Water grant monies are utilized)
-
Be located within Kentucky American Water’s service area in Bourbon,
Clark, Fayette, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Jessamine, Owen, Scott and
Woodford counties.

Applications must be postmarked by March 9, 2012 and recipients will be
notified by April 9, 2012.
