Missouri American Water Presents 2016 Environmental Grant to The St. Joseph Youth Alliance.
Dateline City:
ST. LOUIS
WHAT: Missouri American Water will present a check in the amount
of $4,000 to the St. Joseph Youth Alliance. Funds will be used to create
a marketing campaign to raise awareness of the importance of proper
prescription medication disposal. There will also be supplies purchased
to facilitate the correct disposal method.
WHEN & WHERE:
Monday, June 27
at 11:15 am at the St. Joe Youth Alliance Office located at 5223
Mitchell Avenue
WHY: Prescription drug take back events provide a safe and
effective method of disposing of medications. Many people continue to
flush prescriptions when they are no longer needed and these medications
can eventually infiltrate the watershed. Proper disposal of medications
is an excellent way to ensure our watersheds stay clean now, and in the
future.
The Missouri American Water Environmental Grant Program is an annual
program that began in 2005. It is available to organizations within a
Missouri American Water service territory that have a project that
serves to protect and sustain our environment, in particular watersheds.
A total of five grants were awarded to applicants across the state.
