New Jersey American Water Launches New Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Grant Program
Funding available to support inclusion and diversity initiatives for nonprofit organizations and public schools in company’s service areas
CAMDEN, N.J. – SEPT. 7, 2023 – New Jersey American Water announced today that applications are now being accepted for the company’s new Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Grant Program. With the launch of this program, New Jersey American Water is proud to support the efforts of local organizations for the purpose of advancing inclusion and diversity related initiatives in the communities it serves.
“Over the last several years, New Jersey American Water has championed many important inclusion and diversity efforts to support meaningful change across the communities we serve,” said Mark McDonough, president of New Jersey American Water. “Investing in community organizations that are working to make New Jersey a more equitable and friendly place to live, work and play benefits us all. Inclusion and diversity make us a better company and allow us to better serve our customers across New Jersey. This grant program seeks to expand that mission.”
This program will provide financial assistance to organizations seeking to develop and implement programs, training or community-related projects that aim to promote and foster inclusion and diversity in their community. The maximum grant amount is $2,500.
“We recognize that all backgrounds, ethnicities, and experiences make our company better, and we’re constantly striving to build an inclusive and mutually respectful workplace,” McDonough continued. “American Water’s culture embraces that we are all beautifully different, and our efforts with this new grant program is an extension of the value we place on being an inclusive company that is reflective of the diverse communities we serve.”
To qualify for a grant, the organization, project, or event must:
- Be located within a New Jersey American Water service area.
- Be a new, innovative community initiative or serve as a significant expansion to an existing
- Promote inclusion and diversity in the community the organization serves.
- Applicant must be classified as a 501(c)(3) public charity or K-12 public school, college, or university.
