Pennsylvania American Water Announces Planned Water Outage for East Coventry Township

ROYERSFORD, Pa. (June 14, 2024) Pennsylvania American Water announced a scheduled service outage in its Royersford water system for all residents of East Coventry Township during an eight-hour period from approximately 10 p.m. on Monday, June 17 until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18. Overnight work is being conducted to limit the outage’s impact on customers.

During the outage, the company will move a portion of water main required for its new Lock 57 Water Treatment Plant. Announced in October 2023, the new plant, which represents a $123 million investment in the community, will include numerous treatment enhancements and critical infrastructure best practices to continue providing safe and reliable water service to customers in Chester County.

Customers will be notified of the scheduled outage through the company’s emergency notification system on Thursday, June 13 and again on Monday, June 17 before work begins. Customers are encouraged to stay informed of water-related emergencies and alerts by signing up for notifications and selecting their contact preferences: by phone, text and/or email. To do so, customers should log on to MyWater, Pennsylvania American Water’s online self-service portal at amwater.com/mywater.

Following the outage, some customers may experience a slight discoloration of water. If this happens, they should run the water until it clears.

Pennsylvania American Water extends its appreciation to customers for their patience and cooperation while crews work to make these critical improvements.  For more information, contact the company’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
