State, Local Officials to Break Ground on $1.5 Million Public Water Project for Montco Community with Contaminated Wells

What:
State, local and water company officials will break ground on
approximately $1.5 million project to install nearly 1.5 miles of
new water lines, which will bring public water to residents with
contaminated wells in Limerick Township’s Hilltop area.

Where:
188 School Road, off N. Limerick Road, Limerick Twp. (Schwenksville)
Why:
To replace water wells contaminated by Trichloroethylene (TCE) and
Tetrachloroethylene (PCE), construction is set to begin to bring
public water service to affected residents. The public and private
sectors came together to develop the project, which is financed by a
grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection and funding
from Pennsylvania American Water.
Groundbreaking will take place at construction site adjacent to
homes with contaminated wells. State, local and Pennsylvania
American Water officials will make brief remarks, in addition to
comments by Ms. DeAlba, a homeowner with a contaminated well and
long-time project proponent to bring clean, reliable public water
service for her community.
