Tennessee American Water Employees Give Back During AmerICANs in Action! Month

Chattanooga, TN (October 12, 2023) – Through its program that encourages employees to volunteer in their community where they live and work, Tennessee American Water employees assisted this fall with two different projects in Marion County.  During the monthly Food Bank Ministry at the Whitwell Church of God, employees worked side by side other volunteers to distribute food from the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to those in need. Since last year, Whitwell resident and Tennessee American Water Quality Specialist Kim Pritchett has brought team members together to assist with this food bank as often as work schedules allow.

“At Tennessee American Water, we believe in the importance of being a good neighbor,” said Daphne Kirksey, External Affairs Manager. “We strive to support and enhance the communities where we live and work by supporting our employees to give back to organizations they care about.”

In another project led by Tennessee American Water Field Records Specialist Nick Pickett, who lives in Jasper and whose children attend the local schools, employees refreshed Jasper Elementary School’s playgrounds.  This is the second time employees have come together to spread and rake additional pea gravel and perform small improvements on the equipment to help keep the students safe.

During the AmerICANs in Action! Month of Service, employees across the business participate in community service projects. Although many employees give countless hours to help others, this is a unique volunteer opportunity for those who want to offer their project idea and their enthusiasm to others.

“We believe when we invest in, give back to, and volunteer at our local nonprofit and community organizations, we are all stronger,” said Kirksey. “Our AmerICANs in Action annual month of service is just one way we do this.”

In Chattanooga, a team organized by GIS manager Megan Catalina helped prepare the garden beds for the winter at Crabtree Farms.
