Tennessee American Water Names Grady Stout as Vice President of Operations

Grady Stout has been named vice president of operations for Tennessee American Water. Stout succeeds Doug Wagner, who has been named American Water’s vice president of health and safety.  In this operations role, Stout will lead the Safety, Water Quality, Field Operations, Production, and Maintenance teams in Chattanooga and the Sequatchie Valley.

“Grady has proven himself as an effective leader throughout his career with American Water, where he has steadily been promoted to roles with increased responsibilities,” said Grant Evitts president of Tennessee American Water.  “In addition to a strong operational background, he has regulatory experience and a proven record of management and delivery of capital projects – all with a focus on customer service.”

Stout has been with American Water for over 11 years and most recently served as director of engineering where he efficiently managed a $35 million annual capital budget.  He also previously served as interim vice president of operations and led the state’s COVID-19 emergency response to assure the continuity of essential services to our customers.

Stout is licensed as a Professional Engineer and chairs the Water Utility Committee for the KY/TN Section of the American Water Works Association.  He is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Stout and his family reside in Hamilton County.

Tennessee American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest regulated water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water services to approximately 420,000 people in Tennessee and north Georgia.
