Main Replacement Project, Alexandria Virginia American Water mailed an important information packet to you regarding a water main replacement project on the following areas: Chalfonte Drive, Eldon Drive, East Chapman Drive and Vernon Street. Please plan to attend one of the following community meetings to receive more information about the program offered by Virginia American Water. The meetings are Tuesday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., or Thursday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. All meetings will take place at Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street, Alexandria, VA. If you are unable to attend one of the meetings, or if you did not receive your information packet, please call John Bernard at 571-317-5510 or email john.bernard@amwater.com as soon as possible.

South Pickett Street, Alexandria Virginia American Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for Alexandria customers in the following areas: 700 and 800 blocks of South Pickett Street, Burnside Place, and the 500 block of South Van Dorn Street on the southbound side of the road. The advisory follows a watermain break that occurred this morning. Customers are asked to bring water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing, and food preparation to a full boil for a minimum of one minute, then cool before use. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be present in the water. Once the system recovers, we will be collecting water quality samples in the area of the outage. You will receive another message from Virginia American Water letting you know when this advisory is lifted. For more information, contact our customer service center at 1-800-452-6863. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure the integrity of the system and the quality of the water. As part of this work, we would like to verify the material of existing water service pipe to the houses served by this water main. Within the next three weeks (from 7/17 to 8/7), our company employee may contact you to determine the material of your individual service line. At that time, you can take a photo of the pipe as it enters your house, or if you want us to visually check the material of the water service line as it enters your house, please let our employee know.
