Hume Avenue, Alexandria This is an important reminder from Virginia American Water. Virginia American Water will be hosting an informational meeting this evening, Monday, January 27 and tomorrow evening, Tuesday, January 28 at 6:30 pm at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center located at 2701 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22305. This meeting is in regards to an upcoming water main replacement on Wilson Avenue, Laverne Avenue, Montrose Avenue, Turner Avenue and Hume Avenue beginning mid-February. A letter was recently mailed to your residence containing more information on this upcoming project. Virginia American Water’s contractor, Utilities Unlimited, will be taking the old 6” cast iron water main out of service and placing the new water main in service, and will also be repairing existing water valves at the intersection of Russell Street and West Walnut Street. On Thursday, January 16th, you will experience a disruption of water services between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with a rain date of January 17th. During this construction, there is potential that your driveway or street may be blocked or partially blocked. You can always access your street and driveway, even when active construction is underway by notifying the construction supervisor.
