Taft Avenue, Alexandria This is an important announcement from Virginia American Water. Virginia American Water’s contractor, Utilities Unlimited, will be connecting the existing 6” ductile iron water main to the new 8” ductile iron water main at the intersection of Taft Avenue and North Donelson Street on Wednesday, May 8, with a rain date of May 9. You will experience a brief disruption of water service between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm while being connected to the new water main. During this construction, your driveway or street may be blocked or partially blocked. You can always access your street and driveway, even when active construction is underway by notifying the construction supervisor. It appears that last night’s storms that came through knocked out communications between our pumping stations thus not allowing for pumps to kick on when they should have. We currently have 4 employees in the field working diligently to correct the issues. We apologize for the inconvenience.
