Due to an emergency repair on a water main, customers in Merrillville on the 6800 and 6900 blocks of Harrison St. will experience a temporary interruption to their water service. You are receiving this message because you reside in the affected area and a boil water advisory will be in effect. Once repairs are made and water service is restored, customers in the affected area should bring their water to a rolling boil for 3 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. Water is OK for bathing, washing and other common uses. This boil advisory is being issued in accordance with Indiana regulations. Crews will be making improvements to our system on July 9 2020, which will require temporary disruption of your water service in your area of Del Brook, Tracy, Ashland, Greenbriar Ct.. Water service will be turned off at approximately 9:00 am and could be interrupted for up to 7 hours. While we are completing this work, you may experience a temporary drop in water pressure or see discolored water for a period of time. Please check for discoloration of your water at your cold water tap before running laundry or your dishwasher and refrain from using these appliances if your water is discolored. If your water is discolored, please make sure to run one or several cold water faucets until your water runs clear again. We are also recommending that you flush your internal plumbing and hot water tank AFTER we have completed flushing in your area at the end of this week. Indiana American Water is providing a credit on your water bill to compensate you for water used to flush your internal plumbing system.
